Dear friends,
It is always a delight to work with church and community leaders from the nation of the DR Congo (in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators). This nation is in desperate need of transformation due to corruption and violence, with the church mainly uninvolved and ineffective due to the lack of practical Bible training and discipleship in every area of life. It was fantastic to hear the stories from last year’s participants who have been teaching the BELT material all over - in churches, schools, and families with remarkable results (teenage pregnancy rates dropping, violence decreasing in schools, churches working in unity, pastors taking on the posture of servanthood (rather than big man), transformation in families, couples called into ministry, chaplains and teachers empowered with truth, etc .) Thanks be to God!
Below are some photos and quotes from our second BELT seminar conducted in July.
This year our team of five (from five different nations) tested a new story-based curriculum which gave an overview of the Scriptures as well as insight into the character and leadership of some key figures throughout Biblical history. Once again, the participants from 12 denominations worked together to share what they were learning with people in market places, homes, hospitals and churches. 600+ people were reached in the community, with 800 people ministered to in 5 churches.
We continue to thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support – they uplift and enable us to empower leaders who have limited access to Biblical training.
God bless you,
Mark and Heidi
